Many popular musicians play the right note the wrong way --- I play the wrong notes the right way --- Jerry Lee Lewis, I believe.

The lead singer for Savoy Brown , Kim Simmonds, when 13 y.o. responded to a mag ad (next to a Charles Atlas ad) as to

"how to avoid loneliness"; he purchased a guitar (that needed to be assembled), "didn't come out of his room for

2 years", & never was needy of a friend thereafter.

Decades ago when Johnny Cash had a lengthy low point

in his career he received an invite from the greatest record promoter of that time, Phil Spector. Cash was extremely

skeptical since he couldn't comprehend what this big shot wanted with him; nevertheless, he visited Spector who

informed him that he loved his music.  Cash asked Spector how he would "adjust" his music since the promoter was the

master manipulator of music (created the "wall of sound", full orchestra back up to R&R, echo, repetitions etc,)  Cash had

always been forced by publicists to play pop, not Cash's choice. Spector told Cash merely to sing what he (Cash) liked. Cash,

shocked & delighted, was merely recorded in the promoter's home (with dogs abounding) over a period of weeks

with no extras; this series won many awards & reinstated Cash's brilliant career.
